The Principals of AMRS

Bill Boberg received his BS in Geology from Montana State University and his MS in Geology from the University of Colorado. Bill has over 30 years experience in mining and petroleum geology mostly in minerals exploration and management in the United States and Africa. Consulting work which he has been involved in has included promotion of mineral projects, project management, evaluation of projects for investment, management audits of exploration and development programs, ore reserve studies and technical assistance in negotiations. Bill's experience in Africa has been primarily in diamonds and gold. He is a Professional Geologist (both registered and certified) and is a Qualified Person as defined by Canadian National Instrument 43-101.  Contact at billboberg@africaminerals.com.      Bill is also a principal of Boberg Geotech International Limited (BGI Ltd), a geoscience consulting and service company, and of Cash Flow Funding Group (CFFG Capital), a consultancy providing alternative financial assistance to businesses.

Brian Hester received his B.Sc. in Mining Geology from the Royal School of Mines in London and his M.A.Sc. in Economic Geology from the University of Toronto. Brian has over 40 years experience in mining and exploration in the United States, Canada, Europe, Austral-Asia and Africa. Consulting work which he has been involved in has included evaluations of countries for mining investment potential, ore reserve studies, management of drill programs and expert witness as evaluator. Brian has extensive production experience in underground mining and gold dredging. Brian's experience in Africa has been in gold, chrome, platinum, tin and coal. Gerald Padmore received his AB degree from Yale and his JD from Harvard. He was Deputy and acting Minister of Finance for the Government of Liberia from 1975 to 1979. He left Liberia in 1980 and has been practicing law in Denver, Colorado since then. Gerald has been involved in providing legal services to many natural resource firms (mining, petroleum and rubber) with African operations and has consulted with government officials from several African countries concerning their mineral resources and mining codes. Gerald has published articles and lectured extensively on international resource law issues affecting African and developing countries.  Contact at geraldpadmore@africaminerals.com

The Associates of AMRS

AMRS has associated itself with many outstanding international technical professionals who have extensive experience throughout Africa. In addition to our associates we have a large number of contacts, professional, business and government, located in many countries of Africa whom we can call on for updated information and assistance as needed. Following is a brief summary of a few of our AMRS associates:

Brian Cole is an exploration geologist with over 20 years of international minerals exploration experience. He is a Canadian citizen currently living in Ontario. He has broad experience in both gold and base metal exploration and was the Resident Manager of the AMRS office in Ghana from 1995 to 1998. He worked for Placer Dome on a variety of projects including being responsible for the drilling out of the Bulyankhulu deposit in Tanzania.  He is a Canadian Professional Geologist.

Alemu Shiferaw is a geologist with a Master’s degree and is the founder and manager of Terra Resources Development of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is former Head of the Ethiopian Institute of Geological Surveys and managed the programs of the Institute through the period resulting in the discovery of the Lega Dembi gold mine. Belay Desta was the Chief Geologist of the Ethiopian Institute of Geological Surveys.  Most recently he was Chief Geologist of Canyon Resources Africa Limited and its gold exploration program in Ethiopia.  He lives and operates out of Addis Ababa Ethiopia.  Contact at belaydesta@africaminerals.com

Bruce Geller has his PhD in mineralogy from the University of Colorado and has extensive experience with detailed petrographic and mineralogic evaluations. He is also a specialist in mineral specimens and gemstones and has significant experience in marketing minerals and gems.

Tim Martin is a broadly experienced exploration geologist with over 27 years of international experience. He is a US citizen who lived and worked in Burkina Faso for more than five years. He is an excellent field geologist with extensive experience in a wide variety of mineral deposits and geologic terranes.

Yusuf Karim Mbaga is an exploration and development geologist with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tanzania currently living in Arusha, Tanzania. He managed many of the AMRS contract programs in Tanzania from 1995 through 1998.

Jean Claude Placquet is a Professional Engineer with over 35 years of broad international experience. He currently lives and operates from his home in southern France. He worked as a mining engineer and mine manager in the Congo (Zaire) and Zambia. From 1993 to 1997 he was a mining adviser for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank where he managed and conducted technical evaluations of mining investment projects in many parts of the world, including Africa.

Maximo O. Sara III is an exploration geologist with extensive experience in Tanzania. He lives in and operates out of Manila, Philippines. He has worked for Placer Dome in Tanzania on the Bulyankhulu deposit and managed many of the AMRS contract programs in Tanzania from 1994 through 1997.

Wodaje Abebe is a mining engineer with a Master’s degree living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He was the founding Managing Director of the Ethiopian Mineral Resource Development Corporation (EMRDC) and was responsible for the development and construction of the Lega Dembi gold mine in southern Ethiopia.  He managed a mineral exploration program in Uganda throughout the late 1990's.
